Climate Ready Dive Centres · Now piloting

RESILIENT DIVE BUSINESSES.

A practical climate risk assessment for Australian dive centres and operators, connecting climate information, your business operations, the marine environments you depend on, and how you've seen them change

Pilot open to dive centres and operations across Australia

DFC is inviting Australian dive centres and operations to take part in a pilot climate risk assessment, tailored to your business and the marine environments you depend on. DFC has developed the assessment methods and materials, and together with operator input we will put them into practice and refine the approach.

Take part to understand your climate risks, strengthen your business's resilience and help shape a practical approach for the Australian dive industry.

Why it matters

YOUR BUSINESS DEPENDS ON AN OCEAN THAT'S CHANGING.

Climate change can affect dive sites, marine life, operating conditions, infrastructure, and the customer experiences that sustain dive businesses. These risks vary by location and operation and can have environmental, operational, and financial consequences. A climate risk assessment helps you understand which risks matter most to your business, identify existing strengths and vulnerabilities, and plan practical steps to prepare. By helping individual operators build resilience, Climate Ready Dive Centres aims to contribute to a stronger, more climate-ready Australian dive industry.

WHAT WE'LL DO

  • 01

Understand the climate risks relevant to your business and dive sites.

  • 02

Identify existing strengths, vulnerabilities and current risk-management practices.

  • 03

Develop a tailored, practical resilience plan with prioritised actions.

  • 04

Inform future decisions about preparedness, operations and business planning.

The point of difference

Climate risk doesn't stop at the shoreline.

One integrated assessment looks at both sides of your operation — the business that gets people in the water and the dive sites that make it possible — combining climate information with your experience and local knowledge.

Land

The dive business

  • Facilities, assets and equipment
  • Staff, customers and daily operations
  • Infrastructure and supply chains
  • Existing risk-management practices

Sea

The marine environment

  • Marine climate hazards and changing conditions
  • Dive-site location, access and habitat
  • Ecological condition and key species
  • Changes to underwater experiences

One integrated climate risk assessment

How it works

THREE STAGES.

  1. STAGE 1

    Consultation and scoping

DFC gets to know your business, activities, dive sites and how you manage risk now. Can be split across shorter visits.

  2. STAGE 2

    Assessment and reporting

DFC does most of the work off-site, combining climate and environmental information with your local knowledge. Timing depends on scope and available information.

  3. STAGE 3

    Feedback and co-creation

Review the draft assessment and recommendations together, and refine your tailored resilience plan.

Operators receive a tailored climate risk assessment and a practical resilience plan with priority risks and recommended actions.
